Electronic Music since 1980

Electronic music is my world. But I also work across other genres, from ambiental to jazz, rock, pop and symphonic. I properly started out in this business soon after graduating from the conservatoire in 1980 - although I had already been experimenting with electronic music through university. My first commissions were soundtracks for animation films, but I was also a full-time violinist in the National Opera orchestra. 

It was pretty hard to get hold of professional electronic music gear in 1970s and '80s Romania: we were living through the darkest years of Communism, almost completely cut off from the outside world. Luckily, I had a passion (and some skill) for electronics, so I built many of my very first electro-instruments myself from blueprints circulating on the black market. I made pretty much everything (apart from tape recorders), from an early electric violin up to effects like reverbs and compressors, and 24-channel mixers. 

A couple of years after the 1989 Revolution, when Western equipment became more accessible and a "music industry" started to develop, I left the Opera and turned my part-time home-based electronic music venture into a full-time production studio. I never looked back.

Today, through my studio, Sound Expert, I offer a full range of services: from original music production, film scoring and soundtrack, orchestration, and almost all categories of studio work (recording, mixing, sound engineering, mastering etc).

But I always return to what I love  most: electronic music. I hope you will enjoy my work.
